Odd Fellowship follows a tradition established in Great Britain hundreds of years ago. As a fraternal order, new members learn secret rituals, signs, handshakes and passwords. Odd Fellows came to California in 1849 and historical Lodge Halls can be found in cities and towns throughout the state and nation.
The Lodge emphasizes active community support as well as social activities for members, in addition to the historical traditions. Members can propose and receive funding for their favorite charities.
Activities and meetings within the overall Sovereign Grand Lodge of California includes initiations, award and other events as well as conventions throughout California.
California Odd Fellows operate a children’s summer camp called the “Three Links Camp” and provide scholarships for Los Angeles County children’s participation.
Odd Fellows build a float for the Rose Bowl Parade.
When a Lodge member is sick or in distress lodge members visit and support that member.
Odd Fellowship is open to all. Our Lodge has members of all ages, of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and religious beliefs. We reflect the diversity of the community.
We do not discuss religion, politics or commercial business in the Lodge.
The Odd Fellows Lodge awards annual educational scholarships to deserving young people in the community.
Continued membership qualifies for reduced rates in two Northern California retirement communities.
The Lodge has donated thousands of dollars to charitable and community groups over the years including Kidneys Quest, Haven Hills (center for Abused families), The California Cadet Corp (statewide organization for middle school students), ARC (organization for persons with developmental disabilities), local Food banks and the Simi Valley Samaritan Center.
There are many Lodge leadership positions to which members can aspire, as well as committee participation. Statewide opportunities are also available including board positions governing an Odd Fellows Children’s Home and two Retirement Communities.
